KYDP and The Future Foundation Secure Funding
In April 2018 we launched the Water Tank Project for Hamu High School with the goal of installing a brand new Water Tank and Rain Catchment system. This new system would enable the students of Hamu High to have water at their school.
Starting the project we knew it was very ambitious but the importance and necessity of having water at school pushed us to take it on. Khaya, Managing Director of Ke Nako Youth Development Project with assistance from Michelle, Founder of The International Future Foundation worked tirelessly to get the word out to as many people as possible.
As part of our fundraising strategy, Khaya applied for a grant from The FirstRand Volunteers Unsung Heroes programme which would allow us to make a start on this project and get water to the school. After many late nights of filling in forms, we finally got word that the Water Tank Project got given an R25,000 (£1380) grant. With this money, we are able to fix the existing broken gutters and the broken taps on some of the Water Tanks at the school.
We are now in the process of getting the right people in place to come and carry out the work and we will report back at the end of October 2018.
Thank you to The FirstRand Volunteers Unsung Heroes for helping the students from Hamu High.
